Expansion Draft
Ten current MLS players will join the ranks of Seattle Sounders FC Wednesday. Below is a list of the players protected by KC ahead of the expansion draft. Remember that Chance Myers and Roger Espinoza are also safe due to being members of the Generation adidas program. Remember that Seattle Technical Director Chris Henderson was an assistant here in KC last year, so he knows some players on our roster pretty well. Due to League rules, it was mandated that we protect three of our four international players. Teams will have to protect a set number of internationals based on how many they have on their roster. Gen adidas players also don't count against this number.

Why in the HELL are we protecting Marinelli?
ReplyDeleteWell it was either Marinelli or Trujillo we had to protect, must say something about Trujillo that we're protecting Marinelli over him.

Regarding salaries, Trujillo is cheaper than Marinelli and Carlos has an attitude problem. I don't get it.....

ReplyDeleteI thought Marinelli was making more than 115k. For that price over Trujillo's 70k, Since we're forced to protect one, I'd probably choose Marinelli too. Both were essentially dead weight this season.
Cristman and Trujillo are the same type of player, and Marinelli might have at least some trade value assuming we don't cut him.
