Goodbye Tyson, Ryan, Carlos and Ivan
Today, the Wizards lost defender Tyson Wahl to Seattle Sounders FC in the expansion draft and waived forwards Ryan Pore and Ivan Trujillo and midfielder Carlos Marinelli. Good luck Tyson in Seattle and the other three in their future endeavors. We appreciate their efforts here in KC and wish them nothing but the best.

So why the Hell did we protect Carlos if we were just going to waive him today? Seems to me like we should have protected Tyson. Don't understand that move at all.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteWe had to protect 3 international players.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye and good riddance Ryan Pore. You should be able to find employment in the USL.
I assume this means Claudio is staying?
ReplyDeleteQuick, question. Sure Carlos frees up more money than Tyson.Okay I get that part. But why did we keep Lance Watson? If we were trying to write a book on futility I could see that, but really? I Honestly think that Pore or Ivan would be better suited to keep than Watson.
ReplyDeleteWe had to protect three internationals. Since we were planning to waive two, it didn't matter which of those two were protected. Lance was on a developmental contract last season. He'll likely be invited back to try out for a spot on the senior roster this year.
ReplyDeleteWahl had really earned my respect as a solid part of the back line during the second half of the season. Definitely a loss, but like every loss something that can be overcome.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually a little more sad about Marinelli, he showed flashes of brilliance this season and I thought he was really developing into a formidable attacking midfield option. I don't think MLS has seen the last of him.
Trujillo, the poor guy came in with a lot of hype and the accompanying high expectations. Can't say I'll miss him in the team though.
Pore, well, I've never been a big fan of Pore. I'm a little confused as to why he's being released now though when he did find so much first team football last season, even playing a lot of minutes in the second half of the season...just seems odd to me.
Thank god ryan pore is gone.
