 Lopez Signs at 4 p.m. CT

A little over an hour ago, forward Claudio Lopez of Argentina put pen to paper and signed a Major League Soccer contract to be our first-ever Designated Player. This, my friends, is BIG TIME. We are very excited to get a player of Claudio's stature into the organization and onto the field for our fans. I'm sure you have seen information in a thousand different places, and it is now complete and official. Below are some pictures of Lopez yesterday at the team hotel in Buenos Aires. We will hold a press conference Monday at noon our time for Argentine media with a conference call for U.S. media to follow. Enjoy the pics:

I already liked that jersey a lot, but doesn't it look good on him? Lopez will wear his standard number 7.

    Big-time signing. Big-time expectations. He might have more caps than the rest of the team combined. Let's hope El Piojo is up to it. I'm excited to see him play here in Kansas City.

    Next step....EXPEDITE THE PAPERWORK! Please call in whatever favors you might have to get the visa done quickly. We need him on opening day. We can't have the two month delay like we did with Ivan. GREAT SIGNING!!! Two weeks ago we were wondering who was going to be scoring goals for us.....now we are wondering who the starting XI will be with our depth!
