Game Day #6
TFC held the home-field advantage and won by a 2-0 score line this afternoon. Honduran midfielder Amado Guevara showed why his was the MLS MVP a couple of seasons back for New York, playing opportunist on the first goal and striking a beautiful free kick for the second.
The KCW Reserves are playing TFC's reserve team currently on the game field at BMO.

Toronto scored an early goal through New Zealand native Jarrod Smith. More details later

Watched the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteA few observations:
1. Without Marinelli (a playmaking, ball carrying midfielder), we are punchless up the middle.
2. In light of #1, it seemed like we resorted to lots of long balls to the wings, namely Claudio. He's past being able to run under long balls.
3. In light of #2, Claudio has to try and beat a few guys one on one and go to the goal. Not every time, but a few times at least. The word on him will get out that he pushes it outside then crosses. It may be a game fitness thing that will come around.
4. Trujillo was off his game.
5. The turf is an advantage to Toronto, it just is. The ball moves quicker on it and it's funky to run on compared to real grass. I wish the stuff weren't allowed Several of Hartman's clears and some of Claudio's attempted crosses were effected by the surface, in my opinion.
6. Seven games in, the Wizards are improved from last year and it was an exciting game.
7. I really hope we can generate an atmosphere like Toronto has at BMO in the stadium to come for the Wizards. That was cool to watch.
8. Did I mention how important Marinelli is for our offensive transition (it's not good when Chance Myers is our chief advancer coming from the right back position)?
9. Man is Arena annoying on the Metro Sports broadcast.
10. June 14 can't get here soon enough.

3. Lopez can't cross. He needs to stay in the middle.
4. Our offense sucked for the most part.
5. So did our passing.
6. We need to take people on more.
7. Espinoza did nothing.
8. I thought Eloy did well when he came in.
I'm going to blame our performance on the field, because if that wasn't it I'm very disappointed in our performance.
