Greetings Hillcrest followers. I'm checking in live today from the inaugural Food Wedge Cup from gorgeous Loch Lloyd Country Club in southern Kansas City. The event marks our organization's first-ever golf tournament, with proceeds going directly to our charitable arm, the Kansas City Soccer Foundation. KCSF is a newly formed charity that supports soccer in our area by supporting various charitable endeavours such as The Guadalupe Center, Kicks for Kids and Places to Play.
The event is a one-of-a-kind tournament that includes players, owners, selected VIPs such as Fred Patek and Eddie Kennison and those who purchased entries to the tournament. What sets us aside from other golf tournaments? Well, members of the Cauldron will be out yelling at participants as they tee off at one hole. On holes 7 and 16, participants can purchase a "Food Wedge." If they choose to, a member of their party can punt a Wizards mini ball from the place of the group's best drive. The group's next shot will then be taken from wherever that punted mini ball lands, even if it ends up in the rough or worse. 810 WHB will be out with a live radio remote from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m., so tune in and listen to updates on the inaugural Food Wedge Cup.
