 GAME TIME CHANGED

Our match this Saturday against Colorado has been moved up to 4 p.m. CT to accommodate fans of both the Wizards and Kansas basketball. All tickets already distributed to Saturday's match will still be valid. Gates B & C will open at 2 p.m., with all gates opening at 2:30 p.m.

Metro Sports and TWC 5 will air English and Spanish broadcasts, respectively, tape-delayed at 7 p.m. The game will air live on MLS Direct Kick and on English (1480 AM) and Spanish (1340 AM) radio at 4 p.m. Soccer 101 will no longer take place prior to the match.

Come out to CommunityAmerica Ballpark; watch us beat Colorado; then go home and watch KU beat North Carolina. It should be a great day for Kansas City sports fans.

  1. How is the FO planning on communicating the change to the public? I don't think an email to Season Ticket holders will be enough.

It could make for a fun afterparty at the Legends. Get everybody together at one place for both games.

  2. Emailing season ticket holders, calling all partners, posting on here, Big Soccer, sending a message to our MySpace friends, going on Metro Sports, changing all advertisements, getting on talk radio, emphasizing it in all media interviews this week, a story in the Star. You guys come in on the word of mouth. There are just a few tickets left for the game; tell all your friends about the move and your after plans for the KU game and this one will be a jumping environment as well.

  3. i think this is a ridiculous precedent being set by the club. changing the gametime because of an amateur basketball game? what a joke.

  4. I do not like it moving this much. Why not to 5 PM?

  5. this is a stupid move that i don't agree with at all.

it makes us seem really amateur, changing the time of a professional sports team to accommodate a college basketball game.

definitely worse than dora and scooby headlining.

  8. Whether you like it or not, the FO thought it over and made their decision. And now I can watch my two favorite teams win in one day. Rock Chalk Jayhawk, C'Mon Wizards!

  9. I think its the smart move.

But not the right move for a sport that already takes the back seat to just about everything, even Hockey a dying sport!

Lets hope the Royals don't do too well other wise all Wiz games will be TBA.

  10. I don't know htat it's a horrible move. It probably isn't a good move. As it happens I can't attend now because of the time change.

Worst of all is that the author of the blog tempted fate and the soccer gods (little G) by posting that KC would beat COL. Chalk up the "L".

These are both things you simply don't do. It's bad form, poor edicate, and smiply not done.

  11. This sucks. I understand why it is being done. I was really looking forward to coming Sat. night, but I am in a conference all day til six. I thought it was going to be perfect shooting over to the game at seven.

    Go North Carolina!!!!

  12. How mickey mouse does this make our team and league look! that we change the game time because of a college basketball game? BAD MOVE WIZARDS & MLS. This furthers the stigma attached to the league that it is second rate. I am a season ticket holder and i am refuse to attend the game.

  14. I could care about the game time. I wish there would be a party after for an hour or so. I know KU fans will be glad not to have the conflict.

  15. KU in the final four against UNC is, er, kind of a big deal. I agree with the change. It's just the second game of the season, however for the 4 final basketball teams it is the second to last game. Not only does basketball have the nations eye, but all of Kansas is watching too (well, a lot of it anyway).

I appreciate what is being done because as much as I love the wizards, I actually like other teams in other sports as well.

  17. Interesting how the dissenters mostly remain anonymous. I say it's a smart move.

I wasn't going with the game at 7. I will be attending at 4 p.m.
