Pete Grathoff of the KC Star published an interesting report today about MLS attendance compared to that of more established leagues throughout the world. Check out his report here. We're not doing so bad, considering we've only been around since 1996 and the rest have existed for many, many years in most cases.

I saw this article. It was good for the league.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm preaching to the choir here, but dang, we have got to get Kansas City off it's but and out to the stadium. Our attendance was flat last on the list. I'm not expecting you (Hillcrest) to chime in, I'm just spouting off because I don't understand why KC can't see what a good thing is going here. Ticks me off.
The moves made by Ongoal this year have got to pay dividends. You guys proved it to me in a big way, when I admit I was skeptical. I really hope this year's team is noticed and KC get's its act together even before there is a new stadium.
Rant over.

ReplyDeleteYou do understand that no matter what, KC will be last in attendance this year right? We can only average 10,385(max). Even if KC plays LA at Arrowhead, then to get that average number to 11,385, KC would have to have at least 25,385 fans just at the LA game. Last year it was almost 33K. No worries man, we got our new digs in 2010...overall MLS is good.
Speaking of which...when are we going to get some new news about the stadium? Is it completely a DONE deal? I haven't heard anything about the state approval....still waiting anxiously to see some plans.
