 Bring on Carolina/U-19s Win

We have now learned our opponent for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16. The Carolina RailHawks defeated Real Maryland 1-0 last night on their home turf. Kansas City will travel to Carolina for a 6:30 p.m. CT match-up with the USL-1 side.

Midfielder Kerry Zavagnin and defender Michael Harrington will be in familiar territory, playing less than 30 miles away from the University of North Carolina, where each attended school. Carolina formed its USL-1 team in 2007 and qualified for the semi-finals of the U.S. Open Cup in its first-ever appearance. New England Revolution, the eventual champions, bounced Carolina before defeating FC Dallas for the silverware.

In other news, the U-19s defeated Scott Gallagher Soccer Club of St. Louis 1-0 to capture the Midwest Regional Championship. Just got a text about the win, will have more details coming later this afternoon.

  1. Very glad the Wizards are coming to Raleigh. We can visit with cousins and a daughter while we are in Raleigh. Currently in Asheville, NC.
