KCW Juniors U-19 Team Defeats Scott Gallagher Soccer Club of St. Louis to Capture Region II Championship, Advance to Nationals
(June 25, 2008) – The KCW Juniors U-19 team capped a successful U.S. Youth Soccer Region II Championship run Wednesday, beating cross-state opposition from Scott Gallagher Soccer Club in St. Louis 1-0. Curt McDonald scored the game-winning goal in the 51st minute from a Michael Perry pass, and Scott Angevine posted his 3rd shutout of the tournament.
The U-19s now advance to the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships, held July 22 – 27 at Burns Soccer Park in Little Rock, Ark. The 2007-2008 season was an extremely successful inaugural year for the KCW Juniors program. KCW Juniors teams earned: a runner-up finish in the inaugural Soccer United Marketing U-17 Cup, three Kansas State Cup championships, a regional championship and a trip to Nationals for the U-19 team.
Overall the three KCW Juniors teams went 6-1-4 in Region II play. The U-16s went 1-0-2 and the U-17s were 1-1-1. The U-19 team posted a 4-0-1 mark.
