It seems that every time it rains before a Reserve match, the skies clear just in time for the game. The same was true again in the Kansas City derby, of sorts. The Wizards prevailed 5-1 through goals from Trujillo (2), Colombano, Victorine and Kraus. The Brass scored the first goal of the season against the KCW Reserves in an exhibition. Lucas Rodriguez tallied late in the first half for the visitors.
Scoring summary:
19th minute- Trujillo played the ball wide into space for Sealy on the right flank before spinning and making a back-post run. Sealy took a touch then lofted a cross into the area for Trujillo. The pass was slightly behind Trujillo, but he was able to spin in mid-air and hit the ball with a back heel that went just inside the far post, completely freezing the goalkeeper. 1-0 KCW.
29th minute- Colombano worked a long give-and-go with Marinelli, starting near the midfield circle and overlapping to the right. Marinelli laid the ball on the ground behind the defense and into the area for Colombano, who ran onto the pass and crushed a right-footed blast inside the near post from a tough angle. Eloy is deadly in these reserve exhibitions. 2-0 KCW.
33rd minute- Colombano created the next play, whipping in a cross from near the end line on the right for Trujillo at the back post. Trujillo calmly brought the ball down and around a defender in the same motion and tapped home from inside the six-yard area. 3-0 KCW.
38th minute- Trujillo had the ball near the end line, but two defenders converged. He calmly laid the ball back for Victorine near the top of the box. Victorine's first-time shot clipped a defender on the way by and settled inside the near post. 4-0 KCW.
42nd minute- The Brass recorded the first exhibition goal against our Reserves this year. Bryan Perez played a long ball out of midfield behind the KCW defense for a streaking Lucas Rodriguez. Rodriguez took a nifty first touch down into his path and lofted the ball just over an onrushing Kronberg for the score. 4-1 KCW.
73rd minute- Chance Myers collected a ball near the top of the penalty area and slid square for Michael Kraus just inside the area. Kraus controlled and ripped inside the back post for the final tally. 5-1 KCW.
