Greetings all, happy Thursday. In all honesty, San Jose losing last night didn't do a whole lot for our playoff possibilities, since clinching this weekend (and more importantly making the playoffs at all) depends on us winning Saturday night against Darren Huckerby, Nick Garcia, Scott Sealy and co. So we've crunched some numbers for the last few days and came up with these scenarios for us clinching a playoff spot THIS weekend. It is conceivable that we could know as little as one hour after the match if we're already in the playoffs. It could also take until Sunday or, depending on how the results fall, next weekend to know if we're in. Read, digest and understand:Kansas City will clinch a playoff spot this week IF:
- Kansas City defeats San Jose on Saturday AND
- There is a winner in the FC Dallas vs. Real Salt Lake game AND
- Any two of the following three occur:
- D.C. United fails to win
- Colorado fails to win
- New York loses to Columbus OR
- FC Dallas ties Real Salt Lake AND
- All three of the following occur:
- D.C. United fails to win
- Colorado fails to win
- New York loses to Columbus
Note: If Kansas City wins its two remaining games, it will earn a playoff berth regardless of other results.
Or more simply, 3 of the following:
