We're on quite a roll over the past few weeks with Sierra Mist Goal of the Week nominations and wins, and it's about time to start thinking about the Sierra Mist Goal of the Year award. We already have two Wizards nominated automatically by virtue of winning the Goal of the Week honor (Davy Arnaud's upper-90 bomb in week 25 and Josh Wolff's spectacular bicycle kick in week 27). One of those should contend pretty strongly for Goal of the Year. Now we've been asked to submit two more goals to MLS Communications for consideration. The Wizards PR staff picked one, Claudio Lopez's juke and blast against LA on May 24.
That YouTube clip has been seen over 500,000 times, but I'm not sure that's because of Claudio's shot.
Now you guys get to pick. I'll submit six of our other strong goals from the season with video clips. The poll runs through next Monday night at 11:59 p.m., so get your vote in. Make sure your friends do as well. Now for the goals:
Claudio Lopez March 29 vs D.C. United:
Jimmy Conrad May 17 at New York:
Davy Arnaud July 10 vs New York:
Jimmy Conrad August 23 vs FC Dallas:
Davy Arnaud September 7 at Houston:
Michael Harrington October 5 vs Chicago:
Watch, enjoy and vote!

No love for Roger? His goal vs. the Crew should be up for vote, Hillcrest!
ReplyDeleteSilence from the former interns please ;)
ReplyDeletewhere is davys blast against LA??
ReplyDeleteDavy's goal is already nominated as a Sierra Mist Goal of the Week winner.
ReplyDeleteSilencing the interns, eh? Fine, then I'll find someone else who will point out that Roger's goal vs. the Crew was a right-footed strike, by a lefty, in full stride, with the outside of the foot, into the top 90. So someone else mention that, and let's get this write-in campaign started. :)
ReplyDeleteThe espinoza goal was fantastic and in beautiful ESPN HD. I forgot about it. Consider this my write in.
