International Update

How about U.S. Soccer in the last two days? It wasn't pretty, but our boys earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Guatemala on the road, the first win there since 1988 and the first-ever win in Guatemala during World Cup Qualifying. Then, the U.S. women defeated Brazil 1-0 this morning in extra time to win their third gold medal in four tries since the Olympics added women's soccer in 1996. Very nice.

Today, Sr. Claudio Lopez was the press conference participant over at the Swope Park Training Center. Check out www.backpost.net for some pictures from Thad. Claudio got cheery when discussing tomorrow's big match between Nigeria and his native Argentina in the Olympic men's title match. Look in various news outlets for some comments from Lopez. I wonder who he's cheering for.
