So now that we're in the playoffs, let's take a look at that other championship we have a chance to win: the MLS Reserve Division crown. Heading into the final weekend, only the Wizards and Houston Dynamo can possibly win the title. Our game against D.C. from a few months back will not be rescheduled or count as a forfeit, so the championship will be decided on a points-per-game basis. Currently Houston is in front, but a loss or tie Sunday will mean we have a chance to overtake them. Below are the permutations. Our boys play immediately after the first-team game Saturday at New England and will then be waiting to hear on a score Sunday from Houston. Come on you Swope Park Rangers (as ticket-sales guru Darren calls them)! Go get us a cup!
Houston
currently: 8-1-2 (2.36 pts/game)
win: 9-1-2 (2.41 pts/game)
tie: 8-1-3 (2.25 pts/game)
loss: 8-2-2 (2.16 pts/game)
Kansas City
currently: 7-1-2 (2.30 pts/game)
win: 8-1-2 (2.36 pts/game)
tie: 7-1-3 (2.18 pts/game)
loss: 7-2-2 (2.09 pts/game)

Our game being canceled and not counting as a forfeit is bullshit- there is money on the line for this championship, money that our organization could use- MLS needs to adjust the way the R-League works anyways, if you split the league then split the money as well.
ReplyDeleteHonestly how can you will a championship if you never play the next best team?
"Follow Follow We Will Follow Rangers!"
ReplyDeleteWho representing our team agreed to this? Next time send someone who can do the math. After our win tonight we are even on points with an equal number of games though I think we are ahead on goal differential. Now they get an extra game to see if they can win it and we get no chance to do anything about it.
