 Happy Monday Morning

Greetings sports fans, hopefully you're enjoying your day in frigid KC or elsewhere. We have a busy and exciting week ahead of us, so look forward to lots of great photos and tidbits from Hillcrest Road. First of all, thanks to David Ficklin for the great post Saturday afternoon/evening regarding our construction progress at CAB and Swope Park. If you haven't read that yet, keep scrolling after this post.

Here's a rundown of the upcoming week and all Wizards-related activities:

Tuesday-Training starts back up in KC. Most likely at KC Sports Lodge, though that is not yet confirmed. Either way, it will begin at noon and last roughly an 1.5 hours. Stop by on the lunch break if you'd like!

Wednesday-Training again, location TBD but time is noon. We'll update as soon as we get word on locale.

Thursday-Training again at noon, location TBD. At 7:30 p.m., 2008 Starting 11 Girls tryouts will begin at McFadden's downtown. For more information on the event, visit our website here.

Friday-Training again at noon, location TBD. From 9:30 p.m.- 11:30 p.m., we will be at Abe & Jake's in Lawrence, KS for a fun evening of mixing, mingling and libating. Selected players and Starting 11 Girls will be present, as will a good portion of the front office. Hillcrest Road will be there with a camera, so if you want to make the blog, snag me and start making crazy faces.

Saturday-The boys are off, but open tryouts will take place either at KC Sports Lodge or the Wizards Swope Park Training Center. Decision based on weather will be announced Wednesday. Tryouts are now closed, but watch Metro Sports for some clips and we will, of course, have updates here at Hillcrest Road.

Sunday-Boys are still off, open tryout day number 2 will take place. Selected participants will be called back to fight for a chance to re-join the Wizards in late March with a professional contract on the line.

Also, welcome Wizards Executive Vice President (and General Counsel) Greg Cotton to the blogosphere. He created a Hillcrest Road handle today and should be greeting everyone shortly. Make sure to greet Greg with cheers and jeers as appropriate.

  1. Tryouts are closed. Does that mean you're not accepting any more applications, or are the tryouts closed to the public? Or can people come watch the tryouts?
