Happy Sunday everyone, hopefully everyone has big plans for that big game in the other sport called football. Our boys took on the U.S. U-17s today in a scrimmage in Bradenton, winning 3-0 on first half goals by Carlos Marinelli, Kurt Morsink and Andrew DiCicco, trialist and son of Tony DiCicco the U.S. Women's U-20 head coach and former Women's full national team manager.
We played a 3-5-2 this morning. Starting lineup (right to left):
Kevin Hartman (GK), Jonathan Leathers, Aaron Hohlbein, Tyson Wahl, Lance Watson, Kerry Zavagnin (holding), Carlos Marinelli (attacking), Kurt Morsink (holding), Michael Harrington, Scott Sealy, Eloy Colombano.
30 minutes in, Ryan Raybould replaced Watson, Roger Espinoza replaced Harrington and DiCicco replaced Sealy.
To start the second half, our lineup looked like this (still 3-5-2 and still right to left, as it always will be on here):
Boris Pardo (GK), Matt Marquess, Yomby William, Rauwshan McKenzie, Raybould, Amir Lowery (holding), Ryan Pore (attacking), Ryan McMahen (holding), Espinoza, DiCicco, Tom Gray.
15 minutes into the second half, Chance Myers entered for Espinoza, Michael Kraus entered for Raybould. 30 minutes in, Pat Healy entered for Lowery.
The goals were pretty. Marinelli worked a give-and-go with Sealy at the top of the box for the first goal in the 10th minute. In the 35th, Morsink cracked a 30+ yard bomb. In the 40th, we countered quickly, sending the ball wide for Espinoza who sent in a lazer of a cross that DiCicco just had to redirect into the net from close range.
We outshot the U-17s 9-1 in the first and 8-2 in the second. Great to see Myers and Colombano get into the action.

we're undefeated!
ReplyDeleteSince Conrad didn't make the US roster for US-Mexico, when's he suppose to get in?
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear that Yomby and Myers both got into the game, Myers hasn't played in a loss since he's been drafted! Kid's a winner!
ReplyDeleteNow if we can only get Marinelli to score during hte regular season, we will be in much better shape!
ReplyDeleteYes! Really glad the new recruits got worked in. How did they look? Good assist on Espinoza!
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong...i'm a huge wizards fan...but you have to look at this a say we should have won this game...these kids are just 17. I am glad to see our boys starting the preseason out right. Looks like the new formations is working well.
ReplyDeleteour team is better than kids who can't see R rated movies, yay! :)
